Sonar-International Festival Of Advanced Music And Multimedia Art

With a history of distinction, Barcelona is home to many important cultural events. One of these is Sonar, the International Festival of Advanced Music and Multimedia Art. This is one of the most well supported events to come to the city, attracting thousands of people every year. If you are one of them and are looking for somewhere to stay, you’ll be glad to know that the city has it all when it comes to rambla apartments.

The three-day Sonar festival takes place in Barcelona every June. This year the event has been scheduled for June 17-19. In recent years, more than 75,000 people have enjoyed a fine artistic programme of well-known electronic artists, emerging talent and DJs. All together these talented musicians represent the most modern music offerings in Europe today.

The festival has been going for nearly ten years and is now enjoying worldwide fame. It has been travelling to destinations all over the world since 2002. Some of its stopovers include London, New York, Sao Paolo and Seoul. Every year, lots of cities welcome Sonar, which is an honour in itself.

Among the many artists scheduled to be playing are The Chemical Brothers, Roxy Music and LCD Soundsystem. These household names are bound to attract attention from music lovers from all across the globe. This means that this year’s event could be among the most well-visited in its history.

Sonar tickets can be gotten from several different websites. Ticketmaster is probably the one that you will choose. Here you can get your full three-day pass for €165. This will give you access to all of the acts for the entire festival. Two and single-day tickets are less expensive but then you would have to miss a day or two. And you won’t want to do that.

Before you get your hands on your tickets, the first thing you’ll want to do is explore the location. In the long run, this will help you pick out a hotel or apartment. There are actually four locations in which the festival takes place. The primary site is in the square close to the Centre of Contemporary Culture and the Museum of Contemporary Art. The street you are looking for here is Calle de Montalegre.

The Calle de Montalegre venue is where the day-time events take place, those that are more suited to everyone. For those that like to party hard, the Sonar by Night attractions can be found just off the Carrera de la Botanica. The night festival includes a club featuring the biggest DJs, pubs and bars. Other performances will take place in the L’Auditori de Barcelona in the Ciutadella area of the city.

As Sonar is held in several areas, lots of neighbourhoods in the city are available to you. One of the most common destinations for those visiting the festival is Sant Antoni. This is known to be one of the trendiest areas of town, where you are bound to fit right in. During the festival the contemporary cafes, bars and clubs will be full of revellers. You’ll also be able to walk to Sonar from here within a few minutes.

If you have the kids in tow, then being at the heart of the festival may not be possible. Instead, look for accommodation that’s a bit further away, but still within walking distance. Arc de Triomf is the perfect setting for your accommodation in this situation.

Now that you have thought about where you’ll stay, it is time to consider what time of accommodation you’d like. If you are in town for Sonar, one of the best decisions you could make is to stay in an apartment. There are several reasons for this.

Hotels can sometimes be a bit stricter than apartment buildings. Often you don’t get the choice of what to eat or drink in a hotel, and you may have to go without kitchen facilities of your own. An apartment gives you the option of cooking for yourself and your group. You don’t have to turn up at a set time for a set meal either. For groups of friends, apartments could be the key to a memorable festival experience.

For those that love electronica, there is only one festival to go to this summer. Sonar will provide the stage for some of the biggest names in modern music. Because it takes place in Barcelona, not only will you be able to enjoy great acts, but you can also discover a fantastic city. When you are booking your stay, you should consider a holiday apartment. In doing so, you will be able to live at close quarters with your closest friends and gain more control over your holiday.
