Liberate Your Mind To Make Contemporary Abstract Art

Lots of aspiring artists find it hard to find an inspiration for his or her work at first. There is a common saying among painters particularly that the harder you are trying to come up with an amazing piece, the harder it can be to achieve what you really want. More often than not, trying too hard results in the actual opposite of what you’re actually targeting. Many artists try to force art, but only to turn out frustrated as they hardly get it right. But once these young painters begin to do some contemporary abstract art, they are really impressed with the result.

The same thing happened to me after I tried to ‘practice’ painting by simply letting my hand put anything on the canvas. I didn’t care about what the end result could be and I had no expectations whatsoever. Doing this permitted me to open up my mind and my heart and make something unique without worrying about the criticisms it will get.

When we meet an artist, we immediately think of him as someone who couldn’t care less about what many others could say about him. We also respect how open minded they are and how easily they express anything they feel. But the truth is, a lot of artists still cannot very easily free their minds. This is a good reason why they find it difficult to think of a non-objective abstract sort of art. It is just like an artist’s impulse to think about shapes, figures and patterns and how they need to all be created to make an amazing painting. With contemporary abstract art, it doesn’t really matter what your main goal is. As an abstract artist, it is more vital to create something from imagination. If you try this, you can start by having an abstract piece which can eventually look more like a landscape. Or better yet, you may recognize that you’ve created something between imagination and reality.

What’s incredible about abstract art is that making it is like an artist’s practice in meditation. It’s important that the artist be in a place where there’s nothing to disturb his mind. You could try talking on the phone while doodling. Then you can take a closer look at what you are coming up with out of doodling, and realize that it is in some way artistic. This is because doodling is performed without you being conscious of what your hand is doing. You are in no control of your mind, and so whatever you write is not a reflection of what you are thinking of, but rather a reflection of how creative your mind can be. Allowing your mind to be free and letting yourself feel great in the process are a very good practice to creating contemporary abstract art.
